The Department of Homeland Security, which is now responsible for all immigration functions of the former INS, has advised that checks and money orders filed with applications can be made out to one of the following payee names:
U.S. Treasury
Department of Homeland Security
Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services
Bureau of Immigration and Custom Enforcement
Bureau of Customs and Border Protection
Checks and money orders made out to the following payee names will continue to be accepted:
Immigration and Naturalization Service
U.S. Department of Justice
However, it is recommended that one of the following payee names be used:
U.S. Treasury
Department of Homeland Security
