Special Registration Deadlines Extended Four Weeks

The Justice Department has announced a four week extension of the Special Registration deadline for male nationals of Group Three (Pakistan and Saudi Arabia), and for male nationals of Group Four (Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, and Kuwait).
Group Three (Pakistan and Saudi Arabia)
The deadline for male nationals of Group Three is extended until March 21, 2003.
Male nationals and citizens of Pakistan or Saudi Arabia must report to a local INS office for special registration if:
- You were last admitted to the U.S. as a nonimmigrant on or before September 30, 2002; and
- You were born on or before January 13, 1987, and
- You did not have an asylum application pending on December 18, 2002, and
- You will be in the U.S. at least until February 21, 2003.
Group Four (Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait)
The deadline for male nationals of Group Four is extended until April 25, 2003. The period for special registration for Group Four men is now between February 24, 2003 and April 28, 2003.
Male nationals and citizens of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, and Kuwait must report to a local INS office for special registration if:
- You were last admitted to the U.S. as a nonimmigrant on or before September 30, 2002; and
- You were born on or before February 24, 1987, and
- You did not have an asylum application pending on January 16, 2003 and
- You will be in the U.S. at least until March 28, 2003.
Foreign nationals who are required to report for special registration and do not, will be considered out of status and deportable. Failure to comply with special registration could subject individuals to arrest, detention, fines, removal from the U.S., and could adversely impact future applications for entry to the U.S.
