Second Registration Deadline For Male Nationals of Muslim Countries is January 10, 2003

The following men are required by law to report to the INS for Special Registration or face removal (deportation), and possibly detainment:
- Men born on or before December 2, 1986; and
- Are citizens or nationals of one of the following countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Eritrea, Lebanon, Morocco, North Korea, Oman, Qatar, Somalia, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen; and
- Entered the U.S. as a nonimmigrant on or before September 30, 2002 and will remain at least until January 10, 2003.
All men who meet these requirements are required to report to an INS office before January 10, 2003 to be interviewed, photographed, and fingerprinted.
This Special Registration requirement does not apply to legal permanent residents (green card holders), asylees, and men who applied for asylum on or before 11/22/02.
The first Special Registration deadline was December 16, 2002, for men from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, and Sudan.
A third Special Registration deadline of February 21, 2003, applies for men from Armenia, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
