Dec 16 Deadline Nearing for Special Registration for Citizens and Nationals of Five Countries

Male nonimmigrants born on or before 11/15/1986, who are nationals or citizens of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, or Sudan, and who entered the U.S. on or before 9/10/2002, must register with the INS on or before 12/16/2002 or risk removal.
All such nonimmigrants must appear before an Immigration Officer at a designated INS office, and provide information.
This special registration does not apply to green card holders, asylees, or aliens who applied for asylum on or before November 6, 2002.
The second call-in registration deadline is January 10, 2003. By this date, all nonimmigrant males born on or before December 2, 1986, who are nationals or citizens of one of the below listed countries must appear before an Immigration Officer at a designated INS office and provide information.
The countries are as follows:
Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Eritrea, Lebanon, Morocco, North Korea, Oman, Qatar, Somalia, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
This special registration requirement does not apply to green card holders, asylees, or to aliens who have applied for asylum on or before November 22, 2002.
