Bi-Partisan Immigration Reform Legislation Introduced

March 19 -  Senators Charles Shumer (D-NY) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) introduced bi-partisan immigration reform legislation that could ultimately allow 11 million undocumented immigrants to legalize their immigration status.  The plan has four main components: (1) squeeze out any unauthorized employment by requiring everyone in the U.S. legally (including U.S. citizens) to carry a biometric-enhanced Social Security card that employers would need to swipe to verify immigration status; (2) increase resources to border security and interior enforcement; (3) add more avenues for temporary workers, including both highly skilled and unskilled workers; and (4) earned legalization for the 11 million undocumented workers currently living here.

More details of the proposed plan can be found here.
