USCIS Redesigns Green Cards

May 11, 2010 -- Starting today, the USCIS will be issuing newly designed Permanent Resident Cards (green cards).  The new cards carry more security features, and are supposed to be harder to counterfeit and tamper.  The new cards are also embedded with the card holder's biometric data, and will have Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) capability to allow Customs and Border Protection officers to read the card from a distance and compare it immediately to file data.

The USCIS News Release shows a sample of the new card, highlighting all the security features.
